The Langley's is a very early and primitive-looking machine. It's also one that does not come up for sale often.
This machine is in nice original condition. The lock is designed to unscrew without a key. The mechanism on this machine works, but is temperamental. Having seen a couple of other Langley's, this is typical and may be the reason so few of them exist. As collectors we can put up with such quirks on these ancient machines. But to a vendor back in the day this would have been unacceptable. The body of this machine has some areas of darker and lighter patina. I have no explanation for this, but maybe that's the nature of pot metal, or maybe something stained it decades ago. The glass globe is original and has the embossed text and a label showing the machine can be purchased for $3.10. (Current price adjusted for inflation.)
